Event description

As national and subnational administrations face the ebbs and flows of political transitions, civil society plays an even more prominent role in advancing the transition towards a clean economy. Youth voices in particular are among the strongest drivers of the movement to address climate change. With recent or forthcoming elections in Germany, Canada and the United States, youth organizations in the three countries will play an important role in building up transatlantic collaboration on the clean economy.

Occurring on the sidelines of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue, this roundtable event will include insights from Helen Watts – Executive Director of Student Energy, the world’s largest youth-led energy organization, with chapters in Canada and the US – on her organization’s role in empowering young people to create innovative solutions for the global energy transition and how this work can foment cooperation across the Atlantic. We will hear further insights from Professor Dr. Andreas C. Goldthau, Director of the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt, who can share insights on how young leaders can serve as catalysts for transformative change in the clean economy transition and can support collaboration with North America.

** This event is designed to allow participants ample time to transition to the opening of Day 2 of the BETD 2025. Breakfast and refreshments will be provided.
