The outcome of the 2024 US elections will have an immense impact on both subnational and national climate policymaking in the US as well as on the prospects for current and future transatlantic climate policy cooperation. While Donald Trump has pledged to halt and unravel national climate and environmental policies as much as possible, it remains to be seen how much these efforts would trickle down to the state level, as many Republican states are among those most benefitting from federal climate funding.

This briefing event will include experts from the subnational and national level in the US to shed light on how the reelection of Donald Trump may impact state and national climate policies, followed by input from Canadian and German experts on how the elections impact their countries' as well as transatlantic and international climate policy efforts.
