The Clean Economy Bridge Research Program, launched in partnership with Student Energy, supports a cohort of 15 young people from across Germany, Canada and the United States in establishing research projects addressing real-world issues in the fields of the clean economy and climate diplomacy.

This event will be an opportunity for the Fellows to present their results to an audience of policymakers, experts in the field, industry leaders and fellow young people. There will be an exciting discussion on the innovative ideas envisioned by Fellows,

The event will begin with four presentations focusing on the core topics of the research program:

  • 💧 Energy & Agriculture: Exploring collaboration between farmers and AI data centers over shared water resources in the U.S. and Germany.
  • Renewable Energy Expansion & Grid Integration: Examining how solar-plus-storage can sustain the growing energy needs of data centers in PJM and beyond.
  • 🌍 Climate & Resource Security: Investigating how transatlantic cooperation can align around Egypt’s Vision 2030 to strengthen climate and resource stability.
  • 🏭 Innovative Policies & Market Mechanisms: Evaluating how Germany’s coal transition lessons can inform just transition strategies in Canada and the U.S.

This will be followed by feedback and insights from leading topic experts, government representatives and industry leaders, ending with an audience Q&A.

There will be a networking period after the event between Edmonton’s clean economic community, industry leaders, policy makers and the University of Alberta community.

Lunch will also be provided!
