Our 2026 Annual Conference took place on June 23 in Berlin, Germany. The conference featured high-level keynote addresses and discussions on topics including renewable energy and grid integration, workforce development, industry decarbonization, the agriculture-energy nexus, and the future of transatlantic clean economy cooperation.

This event will showcase projects developed by Fellows from the Clean Economy Bridge Research Program on topics of clean economy and climate diplomacy, with feedback from experts, policy representatives and industry leaders.

This invitation-only event will bring together leaders in industry, government and civil society to explore the balance of investments in new energy uses and supply needed to drive the clean energy transition.

This event will be focused on the energy and agriculture nexus, looking at the use and production of renewable energy and how technology can be used in the sector to increase efficiency and reduce emissions.

Join industry leaders and experts from Ontario and Michigan to explore workforce development and educational strategies for electric vehicle manufacturing, fostering collaboration between Canada and the U.S. automotive sectors.

The Clean Economy Bridge Conference 2025 travelled across Canada, hosting events in Toronto, Vancouver, and Edmonton. Through connecting on-the-ground partners with German and US stakeholders, this coming together reaped transatlantic collaboration opportunities for a clean economy future. 

The Clean Economy Bridge (TCB) experts visited South Carolina and Georgia, led by TCB Lead Mary Hellmich (adelphi) and joined by German experts Dr. Tim Mandel (Fraunhofer Institut) and Lorenz Kahle (dena), offering a unique window into the Southeast’s evolving clean energy landscape.

As national and subnational administrations face the ebbs and flows of political transitions, civil society plays an even more prominent role in advancing the transition towards a clean economy. Youth voices in particular are among the strongest drivers of the movement to address climate change.

This invite-only German-language event welcomed transatlantic national and subnational climate and energy practitioners from around Germany to discuss the future of German-American cooperation. 

For part II of The Clean Economy Bridge US kick-off tour, TCB Leads Toby Bernstein and Mary Hellmich traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, where they spoke with leaders in the state's clean economy transition.

For the second leg of the Canada portion of the TCB kick-off tour, once again TCB Leads Dennis Tänzler and Toby Bernstein joined State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action Jennifer Morgan in Ontario to speak with leading actors in the province's clean economy transition.

To kick off the newest phase of The Clean Economy Bridge, TCB Lead Mary Hellmich went to several cities in Michigan, USA to speak to subnational and civil society leaders on the state’s clean economy transition.

A panel-discussion bringing together representatives from the cities of New York and Bonn, and government representatives, to discuss how subnational perspectives can be infused into national and international discussions on climate policy. 

This study trip follow-up event, during the TCB Conference 2023, featured past participants who discussed their experiences on the trip, the benefits of transatlantic dialogue to further energy and climate policy, and any inspirations they have passed on to colleagues at home.

George Washington University and the TCB will host a joint online workshop on the transatlantic implications of the IRA and the role of subnational leadership from an implementation perspective.

The Embassy of Canada, together with the TCB, hosted a high-level panel discussion to explore Canada’s Global Carbon Pricing Challenge and Germany’s Climate Club as mutually supportive initiatives.

Day two of the first US-Germany Climate and Energy Summit 2022 will be held on September 22 in Pittsburgh, PA alongside the Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) - a joint convening of the 13th Clean Energy Ministerial and 7th Mission Innovation ministerial.

The City Dialogue was a forum for representatives from New York and the German city, Dortmund to speak on environmental initiatives and policies within their cities that include a justice aspect.

The TCB Conference opened with keynote speeches by representatives from TCB countries and an interview panel of transatlantic journalists discussing G7 outcomes.

Two leading climate policy cities, Burlington and Heidelberg, discuss successes and challenges of innovating for net zero on the local level with a focus on their strategies for community engagement and what role the public/demand side policies need to play in the net zero transition. This event

<p>Join E3G and The Atlantic Council for a panel review of the outcomes of the EU-US Energy Council meeting on February 7. Experts will break down key takeaways of the event and discuss their implications looking forward in light of shared security and climate objectives.</p>

<p>At COP26 in Glasgow, in anticipation of the 2022 German G7 Presidency, representatives from business, government, and civil society congregated to discuss the outlook for transatlantic climate cooperation. </p>

<p>On October 20, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany - Vancouver Office, along with  representatives from each participating city, hosted the digital event, Transatlantic Climate Bridge: Climate-friendly urban food systems for Dortmund, Vancouver and Pittsburgh.</p>

To build and strengthen transatlantic alliances in the industrial sector, between subnational actors, civil society organisations and young change agents adelphi and the German Federal Foreign Office convened the first TCB annual conference.

<p>At the end of March, the German Federal Foreign Office and adelphi picked up on the new momentum in transatlantic climate policy: 90 representatives from business, research and civil society discussed perspectives on the Transatlantic Climate Bridge established in 2008.</p>
